WORD FROM THE MINISTER

Mary Anne Jablonski

Minister of Seniors and Community Supports

Honourable Mary Ann Jablonski, Minister of Seniors and Community SupportsJoin the Seniors Advisory Council for Alberta in celebrating seniors and their contributions to our communities from June 2 - 8!

Seniors make a difference in the lives of Albertans every day. From supporting family members and friends to assisting charities and volunteering, seniors are deeply involved in our communities and their contributions benefit Albertans of all ages.

Seniors’ Week 2008 is being launched at the Calgary Zoo on June 2 at 10:30 a.m. More than a thousand seniors are expected to attend the event, where dignitaries and other special guests will pay tribute to older Albertans. Everyone 60 and older will receive free admission to the zoo that morning.

If you cannot make it to the kick-off, you can still join the festivities by attending one of the many other Seniors’ Week events held across the province. Your participation in Seniors’ Week will help highlight and show appreciation for Alberta’s seniors.

I hope you celebrate Seniors' Week 2008 with us and join the thousands of Albertans who will be honouring our seniors.
