Housing

COMMUNITY HOUSING

Community Housing is a rental housing program aimed at providing households of moderate to low income with affordable accommodation. The housing units are developed and owned by the 3 levels of government and operated by the Lethbridge Housing Authority. There are also units available for Senior Citizens who wish to live in a family environment.

SENIORS HOUSING

The Senior Citizen Self-Contained program is designed to provide apartment type one bedroom and bachelor accommodation for low income moderate-income seniors. Minimum age limits may apply.

Individuals or couples may qualify to apply for Senior Citizen’s accommodation. The rental rate is 30% of gross monthly income, with a discount on bachelor suites. There are additional charges for electricity, cablevision and parking. Maximum income limits may apply, depending on need and demand for units.

LODGES

Senior Citizens Lodges are designed to provide housing at affordable rates and are built to accommodate 44 to 150 people. The lodges are located not only centrally, but also in rural areas, so that seniors may choose to remain in the community in which they live.

Lodges offer hotel like accommodation. Rooms are either single or double occupancy. Furniture drapes and linens are provided. Meals, laundry services and recreational facilities are included in the monthly rate.

Residents are usually 65 years of age or older. One must be independent and able to take care of one’s self. However, home care may be arranged for assistance with injection, bathing, etc. If a resident requires special or nursing care beyond the level that is provided in a lodge, they are required to move to an facility which provides a higher level of assistance.

Application must be made by the person wishing to reside in the Lodge. A medical certificate from the attending physician is required. Application forms are available at The Green Acres Foundation, 122 – 5 Avenue South. Phone 328-1155

Provides 24 hour Personal Care services.

Personal Care workers are on site to provide assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting & mobility.
